Excavating Machinery
Twin header
Twin headers are used as an attachment to hydraulic shovels for excavation and blending work.
Overview
A twin header has a hydraulic motor propelled by the hydraulic circuit of the excavator and rotates cutting heads through gears. These rotating cutting heads excavate rock and ore. It is used as an attachment for hydraulic shovels and is detachable.
Twin headers are also referred to as hydraulic excavators.
Features
Feature 01World's leading manufacturer
In 1983, we developed MT1000, the first twin header manufactured in Japan. Since then, the Company has manufactured and delivered a total of more than 2,000 twin headers, establishing a solid position as a leading manufacturer in the world.
Feature 02Fine finish of cutting with picks is advantageous for work
- Low excavation noise allows operation in urban areas.
- Low excavation impact minimizes reaction to the hydraulic shovel.
- The cutting surface has a fine finish.
- By exchanging picks, twin headers can be used for various applications, such as root removal and foundation improvement.
- Carefully calculated pick placement enables efficient cutting and blending.
Feature 03Active in a variety of applications
Twin headers demonstrate their strengths according to the application in various urban civil engineering sites for tunneling, dam base cutting, road gradient cutting, contaminated soil improvement and more around the world.
Line-up
G Series Twin Header
The G-Series of twin headers combine a high-torque, low-speed hydraulic motor and parallel reducers, and have a simple structure with fewer parts.
The thinner drum width and the smaller gap between drums compared with those of the conventional type enable the G Series to excavate ditches easily with stronger cutting torque.
A wide drum arrangement is also available as an option to increase excavating capacity in soft rock areas.
Applications
Excavation of ditches, demolition (excavation of concrete foundations and unreinforced concrete), excavation of concrete chipping, tunneling, underwater excavation, frozen soil excavation, and so on

Mixing-type Twin Header
The mixing-type twin header has a structure that combines a low-torque, high-speed hydraulic motor and planetary reducers.
Since a long blade for mixing is mounted, soil deep down in the ground can be improved at once, enabling soil improvement to be performed efficiently.
It can also be used to blend different materials.
Applications
Foundation improvement, material blending work, and so on
